Hi guys, just purchased another R5 and trying to get the idle set up, but this engine has a piper 285 cam and the idle is as rough as hell. Only can get it to idle at 1000rpm if set a little to rich. What i'm interested in is what the best idle to run car at to get idle mixture set better. Any info appreciated thanks
Is it timed up correctly?
It's a 'hotter' cam than standard, so the idle is always going to be slightly choppy.
Likewise, it's fairly common to run a slightly richer idle afr.

Timing not checked to be honest, have run car for about a hundred miles from seller and runs sweet no issues when on the move. Just idle really crap, just need a bench mark for for setting idle speed at on this cam and then will adjust carb mixture and jetting to suit.
