What does everybody use in the gtt box?

Up to now i have always used 75w90 from my local motorfactors when needed to fill box or top up etc as they dont sell the trx80w thats specified. I have been assured it is fine by many.

When the gear oil has been drained out the oil always comes out black after a short time which i assume is not good & possibly contributing to the 2nd gear syncro damage i have done a few times in the past?

Would it be worthwhile chasing up the proper o.e spec oil? I have also looked at the red line racing shockproof oils, even though its very expensive id be willing to pay the extra if the box lasts longer.

Any GL5 rated gear oil should be ok.

I've always used Castrol Syntrax Universal 75w/90 on my gtt's & the Evo 'box. All good :agree:

Three people with Renault training have told me never to use anything else but the OE 75/80w for the UN1 or the syncros will suffer .
Halfords sold it about 6 months ago .

think it's 3.5 litres of the top off my head, was cheaper to buy a 5 litre can than individual litre bottles.

wilcos stock the recommended grade if you struggle to find it
