ok , bit of a strange on this but i was painiting the 306 , originially it was going 2k white , however theres been a change of plan as i need to get the car done asap (r5 is back soon) and its also fitted a tow bar, so there for it was decided to go satin/matt black.

The car was already done in 2k high build and ready to be flatted back , so i did so down to 800 grit ready for the paint. The paint i used was 1k in a aersol (simmons paint i believe)

It covered well however the first few coats reacted across the majority of the bonnet (60 %) , there was one main reaction at the front which i presume was somthing that had got on there the panel wipe didnt remove

However if you look in this pic you can see the reaction i encounted in most other places, i gave the bonnet many coats as im not too worried about the finish as its only the work horse, and after the 4/5th coat it begain to fill in the reaction however still leaving the dimples to the touch.

I used lots of panel wipe on this so im pretty sure it shudnt be contaminates, all i can think is maybe the 1k product is reacting with the 2k high build primer ?. It was painted outside on a painters stand so i cant imagine there was any silicon high products floating around in the air..

Any suggestions as im wondering whether i should be flatting all the high build from the rest of the car before attacking it.

did you use flat guide? what soap did you use in your water? down to 800? i'd just flat high build with only 800. i think the main problem is the paint, its aerosol and matt. recon your 'moody' could be a wetter spot with the first coat and highlighted as it got thickerbut can be flatted bac and so long as you dont rub through the paint shouldn'y react again if it did. personally tho, if your taking the time to do the prep properly then why not just 2k it? cost alot less n alot better finish, the rat look just says you cant be bothered if its a normal car imo.

cheers for the advice haz, yea i did guide coat the primer, i used jus normal fairy liquid as the soap. I was thinking about flatting it back without going through the paint and wonderin if that should hold the reaction at bay to allow for another coat without further reactions, wasnt 100% sure if i was right. Its only really my third time spraying so just learning from mistakes really.

To be honest the main reason for going with the aersol product was that i decided to go satin black, and a friend whos been in the trade for quite some time told me he would always just aersol a matt or satin black due to it being much easier and the finish virtually the same.. so now i have 12 cans of satin black paint rolling around in the boot , but i must say being used to the spray patten on a spray gun they dont half take hours to cover..
