Check the turbo mate, take airfilter off and have a feel for play in shaft first.

iv just checked the turbo and there is a tiny bit of play side to side, i was just wondering if the smoke could be were the liner cracked and it just needs a good blowing out to get all the crap out cus its been sat up for bout 4 months but that dont explain why it feels like its holding back and not really pulling  iv also done the cup mod when i rebuilt her cus i had a bleed valve on it but iv taken that of and just got the cup mod set up with no adjuster  im running a turbo technics stage 2 turbo what sort of psi should i be looking for and whats the highest psi i can run safely with a pace alloy intercooler and my turbo, iv got an uprated hg and bolts

Yeah i would of said it could have been all the crap that went throught the exhaust when the liner went but as you said it doesn't pull well its poss the water going throuhg the turbo could have damaged it in some way, poss cracked the exhaust housing.
Do you know what the actuator is set at now you taken the bleed valve off? Maybe it could be that it needs abit more preload on it.

Whats the spec of the stage 2 turbo mate? To see what sort of pressure is safe you'll need to know what sort of turbo it is, also with uping the boost you need to make sure the carb is fueling correctly for the boost pressure.

iv just been looking at the turbo technics turbos and it says that its a t2/t25 turbo and also im not sure how to check or adjust the actuators preload

Firstly see if the turbo is boosting the same as it was before then engine went pop.

If not see if the turbo is damaged, if fine then to adjust the preload shorten the actuator rod mate

hay took the 5 out today and went for a long drive the smokings stopped so it must have been just crap from when the liner went but iv put the bleed valve back on and its set the same as before but it still feels like its holding back theres a tiny bit of play in the turbo and the boost gauge is reading 1 bar so could it be a fueling problem or ignition problem and not the turbo
