just wondered this as i like how it sounds when i change gear/ease off but when you here a cossie etc do it the noise is much more defined if that makes sense? is it just size of turbo or does air filter/ distance of air filter from the turbo and boost level come into it?

Well i reckon Boost pressure would affect it and the size of the turbine wheel.

Is compressor surge the boost getting chopped up as it gets forced the other way thru the wheel?

ive allways found that it sounds better with a ali pipe conecting air filter to to turbo.

the longer it it the more it resonates (sp)

My car 'chirped'...I think the ic and filter pipework may have had an effect on the noise, I'm not sure.

Mine was a very loud chirp, more boost will increase the effect as the air speed is greater...at 20lbs, the sound was pretty awesome :p
