Would anyone have one of these lying around they could take the dims off I would like to see if I can mate it to my clio 172 engine.. which is the same as a R5 engine in terms of gearbox fixings..
Here are the dimensions I'm after to see if it will fit..

Just had a quick look through an old reno 21 haynes manual I have.

The boxes listed are

JB3 for 1.7
ng9 for 2.0 non turbo
UN1 for 2 litre turbo

The jb3 is the only box fitted tranverse across the engine bay.

The other 2 are mounted longitude (or whatever its called) and from what I can see in the photos look quite large.

I'm off to work now on nights but will try and have a proper look through it and get back to you :)

Andrew, you need to speak with lewis, he has dealt and seen alot of R21 turbo's and parts and prob has the odd R21 engine and gearbox lying about in his garage and I know he has a 172 lump lying about aswell.
Defo worth dropping him a pm

We should Grant Roger Hewitt and Dave Sibley membership for a £10.

I've got mine out of the GTA on the floor at the minute .Pretty sure they are exactly the same .I've also got a scale drawing of the UN1 bolt holes in the bell housing ....and I've got a spare bellhousing you could borrow if you wanted .

cheers.. I'll get the engine out and see if the drawing looks anything like (I'll print it on a3 it shouldn't be too far off) and then give you a shout..

on the drawing is the black outline the bell housing or the actual gearbox? I was confuse because of the position of the flywheel in relation to it..

It's the blue holes that are UN1 . The black outline was something Japanese we were trying to mate it to .Here's a new one with some dims for ref/scale .
I'm just in Heanor so not to far if you need to have a look :agree:
The 3 smaller holes mid right are starter mount and you are looking at it from the front of the engine .

I'm pretty sure that the Formula renault single seaters used an F block with an early espace transaxle, so there will be something that fits.

My mate Gav has just mated a F7P to a UN1 box but he had to make a suitable bellhousing as nothing fitted directly. Is F7R same bolt positions as F4R?

F is the block so at guess i would say yes

unless the F4R has a later block with a 6 speed box.
