Awesome, they do seem to be pretty good on their classic car policies. Obviously, it won't suit everyone but from what I've heard there are some happy bunnies out there :)

just done a quick online qoute, and it came out at £181:)but its saying your car must not be modified.so basically that was for a standard 5:cry:

From what i hear HIC are good at covering cars with Mod's and dont always charge more... the main issue's with classic car insurance are that they are
1) Limited Mileage
2) Very few Insurance companies do it
3) Can be a pain when claiming
4) Agreed value often cost more and hard to prove your car is worth X amount

HIC & Flux are now owned by the same company and they are the biggest company's to offerer Classic/Agreed values - Flux have been known to be right :jerkoff:

If you phone them and tell them of your mods it will have no effect on your policy (within reason). You obviously cant enter that info on-line.

My mods are declared, Wheels, Suspension, Exhaust, Brakes, IC, etc............

Girl on the phone did say the underwriters had upped their game recently and were refusing on certain items.

For peoples info, my car is garaged and limited to 1500 miles which is fine for my use. I actually only wanted to take out a 6 month policy but they don't do that :crap: GTT is a second car, i'm 28 with 10 yrs NCB, no convictions etc

On the upside, I also get free green flag recovery if the car is more than a mile from home, also 30 days European cover!

Fantastic - Agreed value is really important if you have a nice car - you don't want to end up getting paid out for an 'average' car if the worst happens - It's dead easy too, you just have to fill out a vehicle condition form and send us some pictures!

Direct line wanted 4 figures to insure the Puma. How much did I wish I could think of a witty repartee about telephone numbers at the time!!

Not necessarily mate, should be OK on a classic policy as long as it's not being used for racing.

Don't get me wrong - you're gonna pay a bit extra but we can cover it

Can you still cover it if the engine is the back and it's been swapped for a Clio 172 engine?
I do use it for sprints and hillclimbs but I have seperate insurance whilst competiting.

Only slightly modified in additon to the roll-cage then? :D

I very much doubt that we'll cover it but i'll ask the question when i'm back in the office tomorrow

Dave,

I phoned FJ for the quote on my 1998 Fiat Cinquecento with it's minor mods.

And was told no they can't offer insurance for modified non classics, ie, a 10 year old car with filter, throttle body, manifolds, exhaust and suspension.

Only on classic policies, ie, cars more than 20 years old, can they insure modifications.

Would that be correct?

I'm currently fully comp with HIC / Chaucer who can. But I'm paying them far more for this 60 BHP Fiat that some of the RTOC members are paying on their 5GTT's!!
