rite i have done a search but not found the answer im looking for. My problem is that im running really lean all the time. im reading about 13.5 afr on idle and hold at 3000rpm (high idle test for emmisions) im gettin to around 16-17afr! I cannot get it richen up on the mixture screw at all but will lean out even more, its a standard 5 gtt engine with (what i know to be) a standard carb in a mk1 clio. i rebuilt the carb last year but had trouble getting jets out so left them. do people think is down to the jetting in the carb or the clio pump not being up the job? or any other ideas?
thanks for any help

to start mate could do with knowing what jets are in the carb?each jet will have the number on it, also what boost are you running? looks like you could do with a bigger main and maybe a 0.9 air corrector, but find out what you have in there first and also if there clean and not blocked, you can get furring up in the jets which is caused with a reaction in the carb ally and water over time which can easily block jets slightly, also is your wideband giving correct readings??to check your getting the right fuel pressure T an old boost guage into the fuel line feeding the carb and fuel pressure should read 4 psi

what jets are in the carb and what boost are you running. your idle reading is a little rich. but the reading at 3000 is very lean. is the pipe from the carb top to the FPR connected and not split?

as far as i know its just a standard carb, the pipe is fine i have checked it tonight already :). i do think its the carb myself as it was sat for agaes before i got it i just want to make sure there is nothing else i should check first

what boost is it running? if its standard, then check the pipe to the actuator has not split.

not sure to be honest, that was the next task but a guess about 10psi. it makes it alot harder as its not road legal

Check there are no leaks at the downpipe elbow as this can effect the afr readings, and appear leaner than you realy are.
