would anybody be able to shed some light on my problem, car idles great at 900rpm and drives fine but wen i give it some stick and return to stand still it will idle at say 1100rpm before dropping back down to 900rpm.

Is this carb/fuel related

Thanks mat

Id check the basics first mate, could be something as simple as a sticking throttle cable

simpler than that...

shorten the throttle return spring.

:agree:...it's amazing how much difference that can make when you've got a ****y or weak spring :D

does the car run lumpy abit for a few seconds, after letting the throttle off?take lobster offwith car idling and make sure fuel isnt dripping out of the little nozzle at top of venturi, take idle jet out and clean it can take a few times to get right, get the carb cleaner nozzle and stick it in the idle jet hole right into the carb and give it a good squirt, also make sure the little rubber isnt leaking, hope this helps

thanks for the replies so hopefully nothing serious, this may be a coincidence but my accelertor pedal is rather loose its low down to the floor and you could put your foot behind it and lift it up, could this be a factor.

is the spring connected on the throttle cable at the back of the carb?? has the cable come loose??

just get a new spring mate as they go weak, just replace it and eliminate that
