Just curious of peoples views..........

I bought a part worn tyre on ebay and was in Essex picking it up. I had to drive around the back of the blokes garage to pick the tyre up. As i was heading round I saw a renault 5 raider wheel poking out of some plastic sheeting.

I picked up the tyre that I needed and then had a look under the cover on my way out. There was a G reg Raider underneath.

I couldnt help myself so I knocked on the door of the house. A lady answered and said that it was her husbands. He is "away" for a while and so she would ask him if he wants to sell it when she sees him next.

I got a call last week saying that she would sell it for £300. I went and had a look at it on Saturday. It has a dent on the A pillar. One on the rear quarter. And all the rear windows are smashed!!!! Courtesy of her and her baseball bat!!!

It could prob do with a respray in all honesty too. It starts up and had an MOT until recently.

I am capable of doing all the mechanical work myself and also the repairs. Its just the respray I would have to get done.

Soooooo...do you lot think its worth a buy??????:)

If it's in good condition otherwise, then I'd say go for it! It would be worth more than £300 as a breaker if everything's there / in reasonable condition.

Yeah everything is there. Ideally I would like to get it back to tip top condition and get it back on the road. Along with the grey 5 turbo in my garage.;)

Anyone else think £300 is an ok price for it?

My friend owns a spray shop and he said that as long as I do the donkey work eg, strippin the car down to its bar bones etc, then he will spray it for £400. Seems ok to me.....

Yeh. I understand you wanting more opinions, but from someone who has had a fair few 5's, I'd say it's worth it. :)

If everything is there, it's easily worth a punt for £300.

As BriC said, you'd make more back in selling off the parts if you decide to break it.

Out of interest where abouts is it in essex? I knew of quite a few raiders in essex especially in the chelmsford area.

depending on condition underneath, but if you can get it up and running and on road its worth more than that easily with very little work needed.

Or if not in parts which depending on condition might be interested in :)

Bigfoot- its near lakeside. It looks like it hasnt moved for a bit!!!

Mart- Thanks for your input:)looks like its def worth a buy then! Good to see your still on here too;)

BriC - Thanks for your replies too. There is no way I am buying to break it. I'll have a good go at getting it back on the road. Have always fancied a Raider but never seemed to find one at the right time or price.

Ill have to find a way of getting it back home. I guess popping it on a low loader is the best idea?

Seems that essex is the area to get hold of a raider then. Cant say I know of any down that area. Just about 15 around chelmsford area which keep appearing now and then.

But yeah for the price pick it up, only cost you about 75-100 to get it back or unless you know of somebody to do it cheap for cash on side.

I know this is a really old thread but I have realised that I never actually put a post on here regarding what happened to this raider....

I went to pick it up and she had sold it to someone else the day before!!!

I was not impressed......

For the past 20 odd months I've been wondering each day what the outcome of this ever was. Thanks for the update...
