the old girl seems to be overfueling when its cold and the choke is open and left idling.
ive cleaned the idle jet a couple of times and the idle jet has 45 stamped on the side of it.
can anyone suggest a reason for this.
confusion here.
is the choke flap shut - i.e is the choke lever pulled 'on'. ?
or is the choke flap open?

Does the flap not restrict air flow and allow it to run rich on warm up?
I could be wrong, thats just how I imagine it to work :scared:

Correct, that's exactly how a choke works.
It'll always be running/fuelling rich all the time the choke is 'on'.
