View Full Version : Paypal Dispute
Im selling plugs on eBay and somebody purchased a set. I sent them off to be delivered to the address supplied however later on found out rather than living at 46 they live at 76 which is not said anywhere. They are now trying to claim the money back through paypal saying I didn't deliver the item. Have got a receipt from the post office with their house number and post code written on it, didn't do recorded delivery though. Am I going to have to give them the money back as paypal like favouring the buyer even though they didn't give me the right address, and am I going to be able to claim the money back through the post office for the loss of the items?
Any help would be great
Cheers :)

Your right about paypal favouring the buyer. I would get scans of reciepts and prepare all your evidence into a doc ready to send to paypal. At the end of the day paypal do what they want but you have to try your best to say "NO the buyer is an idiot"
Paypal are absolutely useless - as a seller I hate them!!
If it's not been sent recorded and paypal can tap a few keys on a computer to track it they will always award in favour of the buyer.
If you try and claim from Royal Mail they will check with the address you sent the parcel to to confirm it was undelivered which it probably wasn't
Are we talking about much money? Is it worth writing to the people at the address you sent them to and asking them to contact you?>
Only one way to find out, follow the dispute, provide links to the scanned receipts and evidence of him telling you the original house number. I've won things like this in the past as the seller so give it a go :)
Forgot to add....
It gets better. the address which I sent it to, is a pub which has been closed down for 1 year.
Its not much money but its more of the principal of them being wrong and now I have to loose some money, £9, I know its not much but I like fighting my case when I know im right :) make it as long winded for them as possible

If the buyer cocked up giving you address surely they could just walk down the road to number 46 and knock on the door?
Edit: Oh I just see, its a closed down pub :s
Does the original paypal transaction state them living at number 46?

sounds like a good scam to me, give the address of an empty property down the road, watch for the delivery to be made, break in get parcel (chances are it's already been unlawfully entered anyway), start a dispute and get your money back.
fight it, all your emails must show they gave the wrong address, therefore it's not your fault, you've got a receipt to prove you sent it to address supplied
I have taken screen shots of both the paypal and ebay stating 46. I have escalated it so Paypal can deal with it, I have had enough messaging the person about this. 20+ messages to and from. Is there was of sending them pictures on paypal or is it just write in there what I think.
I would host them on photobucket and post the links to the photos :agree:
Just slap them with those big toes of yours...

Paypal should give you the option to upload evidence if it comes to it but if the paypal transaction states 46 then all they need to do is look at that and case closed.

Thats what im hoping, and eBay still own Paypal? so they should be able to look on eBay as well

Yes ebay and paypal are both part of the same extortionate business.
Thinking about hopefully they won't ask for evidence the item arrived at number 46 (i.e recorded tracking numbers) as even though you posted according to the transaction delivery address (#46) they may want proof it actually got there before going in your favour.
Well paypal dropped the case. Now the buyer has appealled for it
"this is unnaceptable according to you (paypal) your ment to be the safest place to purchase items trough.. what a load of s**t !!!!! "
It didn't actually sensor on paypal, wonder what sort of words you can put on there
Well here comes round two.

They dropped it on the grounds you sent the item to the place specified in the transaction details?
I think the buyer is totally missing the point whether buying through paypal is safe or not he lost his claim as you sent it to the address he gave not where he actually lives, tool.

Get ya emails up in fornt of you and press prt scr (next to f12) then open paint up (accessories) paste the prt screen into a blank page. go edit crop and save as jpeg.
Thats a way of proving your email exist without actually forward int he emails on to start with.
Even better now, paypal refused the appeal from the buyer, but now eBay have favoured the buyer :crap: and wants me to refund them the £9. Even though I loose £1.50 postage and 51p in paypal fees, so im out of pocket for their mistake, well im going to appeal this. Might even ring them up (anyone managed to speak to eBay before with the helpline?)

I've spoken to the paypal people on the phone before and they were vey helpful.
I sold a phone which turned out to be a good copy (I had no idea :() and the buyer wanted a refund and made very childish statements on ebay and the paypal dispute and tried getting away with keeping the phone and claiming back the money.
A quick call to PayPal and they dropped the case. Its got to be worth a try.:(
You've got the evidence to show that the buyer messed up si they should go in your favour.

I can't see why ebay would favour yet paypal didn't when they are tied together, I would definitely call them.
The buyer changed their address in nov 09 but for some reason eBay made the mistake of sending that info out to myself. Had to speak to a supervisor there on eBay rather than just a gerneral person as she was not even bothering to take a look at the facts of the case apart from I didn't have proof of delivery. I have now had the case withdrawn, and both of us have got the money back. So the buyer hasn't lost out and I have technically sold that item to whoever has got the goods.
