just a thought that there could be a volvo engined 5/clio section

as its becoming a popular thing now
and all relevant stuff could be kept together

:laugh: it's Renault turbo owners Club, but as you say the Volvo 1.7 engine is a Renault block and a very popular conversion at the mo. So not a bad idea to have a dedicated section.:coffee:

The question is where to put it.

Many of them go into Clios, but there isn't a Clio section.

The ones in 5GTT will be in the 5GTT section.

The Volvo lump is not the only other engine either.

So where do the Megane engine conversion go, 172/182, etc.

Then there's the engines made from parts from various engines that are not straight from any particular car.

Hasn't someone fitted a Megane 225 engine into a 5GTT? And the VAG 20valve engine.

Maybe, we could have an engine conversion forum that had sub forums for the different engines and further sub forums for the different cars.

Or...

One good article with clear instructions on each conversion into each car would mostly do it.

Maybe there could be a comments section then after each article.

To be fair the Volvo conversion is the most popular turbo conversion mainly for cost reasons. One good article would be the best way to go, but to get all the information maybe we should have a area for them, then a complete article can be put together from that information. Even with an article we will still get new questions. In the future we could do the same for other conversions as they become more popular.

How about the "B18TF Turbo" with the blurb below saying "For discussing the Volvo/Renault 1.7 turbo engine" i could add it bellow projects and restorations.

A better option, so we cater for all conversions and so we are not being specific to the 1.7

this would be brilliant i think, i was considering changing the engine in mine to something different and in all fairness it was a nightmare looking for articles for this pages for that etc...... if it was all in one place with all the relevant info on one page would be a lot easier to follow.
members can then consider which conversion would be more suited to their requirements etc. i hope these get published with some pics to help explain the processes its always easier to follow a topic/ guide with some pictures.

Instead of adding a new forum i have just added sub forums to the technical boards, mainly to keep the boards tidier and after all it's tech discussions.

I have shortened and tried to keep it a bit more generic, as the club is not just for 5 gtt's;).........This should cover all basis mentioned by Ian

I have not added the vag one as it has only been done once but i could add "Other Conversion" if you think it is required?
