My car is coming along now so would like to get a few niggles sorted.

The drivers door still has a drop on it, not much but maybe 3-4ml, i spoke to the guy i bought it off and he told me that new torx bits and hats had been fitted.

I'm really going to have to spend a day taking the doors on and off to get the spot on before i paint the car.

The passenger side does not drop on its hinges but has dropped a little and is just rubbing on the sill, It is all quite hard to tell at the moment as i have removed all the rubbers.

Maybe put them all back on and have a bit of a fiddle.

The main problem i have is its been de locked, i want the original locks back in and c/l removed. The doors have had little plates welded on the back. As per one of my old posts i need to open the holes back up. I think the best way is going to be with some small metal circular cutters.

At the moment it is very hard to distinguish between the door, plate, weld and filler the original profile of the door lock hole.

Has anyone got a close up of the hole and a few measurement for me? the best i can make out is it looks like a circle with two small lugs at 3 and 9 o clock.

Or the easy option is to buy two new doors, can you still buy them and how much are they?

hi
depends on how fussy you are going to be,i personally would replace with new doors and hindge kit, the hindge kit that comes allows you to make ajustments on the doors,i did this with no probs,,i was a panel and spray painter for ten years, but this is a fairly simple job good luck

DOORS FROM RENAULT £147.16 EACH
HINDGE KIT £35.77 THATS FOR BOTH DOORS
THESE PRICES ARE FROM 2006 BUT DONT THINK GONE UP ANY SINCE

or go down the second hand route but most doors are delocked i noticed on e-bay

think on my profile they is a picture with no door lock in:agree:

Just had a good old search, found that kit.

People seem to be saying its the centre hinge that wears on the door itself, that kit does not seem to have it.

I priced some doors £195 + vat each, **** that £500 notes. The doors i have are in good nick, i think i would rather do the hinge kit and keep the de locked doors.

Can someone take a close up of the door lock wholes with some measurement for me please :)

if your keeping doors you can get new torque screw bolts with top hats(basically a new guide for bolt) when inside of your door hindge is worn, which makes them drop common problem

just seen pic:brickwall:

Right lets get this right, the guy i bought the car of changed the pins for the newer torx bits, he put the new hats on them to. So this should take up any where in the hinge itself by fitting the new brass hats.

If my door still had i slight drop then it must be the hinge kit i need for the door itself, correct?

I spoke to my seller and he suggested nipping up the torx bits have tried that and still the same.

It also looks like there are little washers in there to is that right?

Is your car back from paint yet Schakal, just wondering how you got on with changing the pins etc?

this was the message i got from seller

hello phil. i had my own steel sleeves made as the kit from renault contains some kind of copper or brass looking short sleeves with a built in washer. they look like small top hats. the body shell originally had split roll pin type hinges. the drivers door should only need the torque pin tightening up. regards. spencer

So i take it he must have put the new sleeves in as opposed to the two brass hats, then fitted the torx bits.

mine is not painted yet mate ,but quite a lot of members that bought
pin and bush kits from me pm ed to say ,it worked a treat :agree:

if the insides of your hinges are not worn , new bushes and pins
should take the drop . to confirm this if you take one of the doors out and
check the condition of bushes in the hinge ,if look worn take the bushes out
and measure the i/d of the hole than we can compare it to the o/d of a new bush .
having said that the bushes are slit and will take some slack too .

unless you have not seen

grab hold of bottom of door nearest the back wing and see if you can riggle it up and down if so then yes to hindge kit if no you need to get big hammer and knock the top hinge back towards front wing this will lift the bottom back edge of the door up,sounds ruff but its what we do in the trade and it works:) just knock it back a couple of mm

there is a wiggle on drivers door, very little but gives about 3-4 ml drop when closed, the thing is he says he has changed the pins etc, thats why im stuck.

you could have play on door hinges itself but new kit would sort that

i will post picture of lock hole and measurement this aft
saying that if you grind patch away from back you will have hole already thier
if they just welded around outer edge of patch:agree:

heres pic of lock hole
think you need to get a stencil from a second hand door to get exact size
as its hard to try and but down in words the exact measurments as lock is a snug fit

Could u not use a dremel and carefully cut away the welds from the inside?

Thats fantastic mate, its not how i thought it was.

Stencil is a great idea, anyone fancy doing that for me :)

Im going to have a go with a file, just welding always makes a mess, especially when its on paper thin metal.

There is a mixture of filler, bodge, plate and door to determine what is what.

That picture help me out though thanks :)
