Ive just had my 21 turbo diagnosed as having a rather poorly alternator. :(

Yes charging at just 11volts LOL, its had it.

Roger aka Coalville Renault was kind enough to spare me an hour or 2 for tea and crumpets.

Didn't fancy changing the alternator myself so Roger suggest he would do it for me. Sourced a Part from Mr Sibbers whos bringing it over tonight but who was unsure of said part functioning.

Looks like I will be off into Leicester in the week to test part on bench at this place Roger knows.

All in a good days work for Renault fans. my hands covered in Black Hamerite paint and a kitchen covered in Renault 5 GT turbos hoses.

Ah well. We love em dont we. :agree:

how did he test the voltage? 11v doesnt sound like the alternators doing anything at all. thats probably just battery voltage. check the trigger/exciter wires, there usually the cause of the alternator fields not creating a voltage. Check the terminals arent corroded/broken/loose nice easy/cheap fix if this is the fault.

Yeah basically giving the car the bigun last week and the bat light started rapidly flashing on off. Then when at a standstill the light is no perm on. I thought Ide chucked a belt but that also drives the water pump so i would have seen themtemp rise pretty fast. It didnt like and the belt is still there and tight.

To be honsest if the big Rogernator aka Coalville Renault says the altenator is dead, i bet its dead.

Auto electrics in Swad re-coned my alternator for 60 quid matey, she's sweet as a nut now. It'd be good for a spare one day i'm sure:)

Good to hear that they are still willing to help us :) I have had equally good results with Renault in Worle, Somerset.

I visited them before all this price hiking, parked my smashed up raider next to a gleaming black R26, the look of disgust on their faces :D But after a friendly chat i was able to get everything i needed just like that.

Fitting the new front end and all associated little jobs that go with it was a pleasure, a great day. I believe Jesus has used them once or twice as well with minimal hassle.

Easy Renault-ing :smokin:
