compression test

well i finally got the compression test done 2day and it confirmed the reason for power being down on my car

results are

115psi
130psi
128psi
130psi

looks like i either stick with the c1j or go for b18ft

Pot 1 does look low but its not miles away. How much power do you think you're losing?

well power is at 107bhp and 112lb/ft so its well down atm

well tbh iv noticed it smoking on the odd times i take it out at first i just thought it was the normal but its there even when warmed and ran for a while so id say the rings defo need replacing engine has also done 109k so maybe a bit of wear and tear is expected :agree:

smoking can be other things,turbo,valve stems,too much oil in breather.do compression while hot with WOT and watch guage move.large fluctuations in needle indicate good rings!!;)

this test was done whilst engine was hot so do i need do it when cold?

make sure you do a test with wide open throttle, they should be within 10 percent of each other, if you have a leak try some wd 40 down the cylinder and test again if it seals its the rings, if its the same its the stem seals or worn valve seats/guides

right guys i think am going to invest in a piston and liner set for my engine and also new stem seals just in case they are worn, also ill get the bb tuning racing cam fitted at the same time so this should get the engine back to peak performance, its either that or go for the b18ft conversion but if i do that ill want aftermarket management and a t3 turbo with big boost lol
