When i was removing the bonnet on my 5 yesterday i snapped the second nut from my bonnet:( so now there is only 1 out of the 4 left.
Am i right in thinking the only way i can use that bonnet safely now is by using bonnet pins? Had a quick look round flea bay and came across some aerocatch flush locking bonnet pins, has anybody fitted these to there 5 and could post some pictures? or any bonnet pin desigh in fact.

is it not possible to just weld the thread back on?

someone with a stud welder may be able to fix it

i have fitted some aero catch on mine, easy part was cutting the holes in the bonnet, hard part was actually measuring up where it needed to be cut,
i have got them above the struts, its very shallow there so i made up some special
brackets for the pins out of some plate steel, shortened the threads on the pins an
screwed them into the nut welded on the plates...

get you a pic if you want mate????

i snapped all of them on one of my 5s. i welded the bonnet onto the plates and if/when i need to remove the bonnet i just slide the brackets off behind the grill.:D
