View Full Version : Gearbox crunch 1st to 2nd under hard acceleration?
Could it just be because my oil is low?

give it a try, easy enough to do, but it sounds like synchro mesh issues
type of oil has a bearing on how well the synchro's work, or 2nd gear synchro might just be worn. Or, maybe the clutch is dragging - is it disengaging 100% ?

My old gearbox used to do this, but I never got to the bottom of what it was.

I'm pretty sure it is as it's quite on and off (four paddle thing)
I'll try topping it up at the weekend and see what happens.. I did look at getting some synthetic oil but didn't want to waste it if the gearbox was at fault.. but I could always empty it and re-use. although it never seems to happen like that :)

mine does this if i change gear too fast, but a gentle change it doesn't crunch. i think its just the syncro buggered, i also get a nice whine in 3rd so i think its been ran low on oil at some point, but until i goes bang i'll keep driving it, been 6months so far....
mines just started to do this again. last time topped the box up all was well
