ive always mounted external oil coolers on the cross member in front of the radiator.

ive never been keen on mounting oil coolers too low. you dont want a stone/debris hitting it and loosing oil and pressure quickly.

I've fitted mine to the RH outrigger to the rear bumper and piped air to it from the old airbox intake :p

right things have changed , fitting it to where i planned makes it
awkard to get in and out or work on afterwards .

now i have found somewhere else to fit it but have a question
that needs clarification .
does it matter if i mount it with the solid pipes at the top
seeing that this system runs with oil pressure from the pump ??

Makes no difference which way up it is, i have found that it is more important to mount it on rubbers like the OE intercooler/rad setup, otherwise the vibration will prematurely destroy the core and/or snap the mountings. Just my two cents :)

i alway's been told to mount the oil cooler with the pipe at the top so you dont get air trapped in the top of the cooler. if you get what i mean?

Thats what i thought as well, until i saw how KTEC had mounted theirs in the demo car. I have seen plenty of oil coolers mounted on their sides too :)

i think the cooler on it's side is most likely ok as the air can still escape.
