havent a clue really. i brought it off a m8 who is always wealing and dealing in cars. i dont think the bloke who he got it off told him to much about it or it went straight over my m8s head.

i need to look what turbo is on it.

all i know of is forge front mount, bigger turbo, water injection. and havent a clue if anything has been touched in the engine. and its running 21psi.
and i know not to take that figure as the bee all and end all.

i would ideally like to now my self. may get my m8 to chase the bloke up who he brought it off.

looked at the turbo a bit earlier. its got some markings saying M27 and AR42 there was something else but cannot remember.

give any clues away?

im having problems with the car when at speed and being put under load that my engine bay is getting covered in oil. but as the bays such a mess i dont no where to start.

im going to test if it does it whilst accelerating from low speed in a little while.

My friend I believe you're in deep ****.Sorry for my language I've learned my english by listening to american movies.:D.I don't believe it is even near 240 bhp with ar.42 and 21 psi and the oil is bad news as well.I believe that the main problem would be the missus and the nagging.I've changed a few due to my relationship with the five and they simply don't understand.:wasntme:.Welcome to the 5 world (again).

sorry tom not laughing at you or your car, just a quality post. :agree:
Sounds like small turbo that maybe being used past it's capabilities, and is not pushing out anywhere near 240bhp.The oil may not be a problem, might be just breathing heavy. Is the breather circuit venting to air or to a filter?

could well be, hope not though. what would them numbers point towards then? suppouse i will have to investigate more. really want to know what turbo it is now.:( shes been with me long enough around 5s lol.

thats what i am thinking trixnflix as i once had this problem with my old 5. but not as bad. it is going to a little k&n filter. it does look rather dirty, and i dont think im loosing oil on the dipstick either i will check and post later tough.:agree:

So is the breather filter sitting on top of the canister that sits behind the water pump?

nop the filter is coming out of one of the pipes near to the tee piece nearest the rocker cover if you can understand what i mean?

im going to test if it does it whilst accelerating from low speed in a little while.

Arr that sounds dangerous at 21psi and poss stock needle in carb... :)

Have you checked to see if oil is over filled? be worth doing a compression check, you may have poor rings... report back after a compression check..

im not to sure about the carb the car had aj tuning stickers on the bonnet and boot, so i suppouse i was being a bit nieave about the car being tuned properly.

That was another thing that worried me that it could be worn rings. Havent really got alot of time to fiddle now ive got a little lad. Will try do a compression check 2moro. Also the oil isnt over filled as i changed the oil and filter today. Another marking on the turbo was bc1 dont know if that means anything?

what was getting covered in oil when driving hard? was it at the front of the block? mine did this turned out to be oil sandwich plate not being done up tight enough and at high pressure oil was squirting out over the front of the block.

also might be worth checking the carb main jet and the 2nd stage enricher to see if these have been modified to fuel for that amount of boost.

tom t
14-03-2010, 17:56
well the bonnet has been, also the telephone hose on the turbo, and the boost pipe on the turbo and the bulkhead a bit. the bay is pretty damn filthy. i also think i need to get a sealing washer on part of the oil feed after the banjo bolt.

i think ill leave the carb together as i dont want to mess it up. but ill try and get it on the rollers to check the afr.
