A big pop heard when I turn off the engine

Hi peeps

I have notice that a couple of seconds after I turn the engine off after driving the car I hear quite a loud pop of air coming from the rear of the car, sounds to me like it's coming from the petrol tank. I can probably hear it quite clearly as my car is stripped out.

Anyone know what causes this or has noticed the same on their 5 gtt??

Don't worry about it - some gtt's just seem to do it. Every Turbo 2 does it as well.

wouldnt that be a backfire from unburnt fuel in the exhaust mine does it too when its been on a good run and the exhaust is hot?

my ginger one does it, its through the exhaust, makes people jump as its quite loud!
