hi could anybody give me a rough estimate as to how much i should sell my r5 gtt for is a h plate phase two with 70000 on the clock, it has had an awful lot of work done to it both inside outside and on the engine, its in reasonable condition with just a few bits of paintwork that need touching up as they have already been primed? ill try and upload some picks later

So there you have it, anything from £1,000 to £2,200

5GTT's are a funny breed, or should i say the buyers of them are? When it comes to value, its in the eye of the beholder. What did you pay for it? What does it owe you now? Base your value somewhere sensible around there. I had a J plate white GTT that i spent 3k on making good. Sold for £2,100 with about 65/70k on the clock. If your mileage is genuine and its as clean as you say, i dont see why you wouldnt get a similar amount for it.

It also depends on what you're afer as a buyer, if you don't mind smoothed bumpers, the old school OZ Polaris wheels, non oe side repeaters, sunroof model, buckets instead of GTT seats then it's all good :ashamed: :D

What i mean is they're small bits on there own but when you add them up it's more money spent and time, The market's cornered with that particular car

"its in reasonable condition with just a few bits of paintwork that need touching up as they have already been primed" Full respray then?

To have that area of rust sorted properly, I'd budget on around the £300 mark.......

Hi,

We have a classifieds section which you can use once you've joined up as a member. This is actually someone elses thread entirely anyway.

If you were previously a member then you can re-join at a discounted rate of £10, see the new members section for details of this.

This is someone elses thread about their own car so you would have needed to begin your own thread anyway.

its got 5 months tax and 10 months mot and the car owes me 2000 if i was not to be making a loss but i have a funny feeling i will loose money on the car and i think as soon as iv gave her another clean and took some more detailed pictures then i will put it in the classifieds,

Sadly not very often are cars sold and brake even with what they owe you , You could spend obscene amounts on a renault 5 gt turbo and yet it may only be worth as an example 5 thausand pounds :dearme:

Could you not try to blend in the primerd parts yourself with a rattle can ?

For the sake of twenty pounds for a couple of tins you maybe able to gain another hundred or two by making the apperance slightly more attractive , Hide her 'naked areas'

Best of luck chap!

when i brought the car body work was an issue but one i was hopefully going to get sorted by a pro as i really wouldnt trust my self with a rattle can but now i cant get insured im feeling any money i spend on the car is just going to add to my losses.

Thats a fair enough point . ! hope you manage to get what you eventually decide to put it up for ! :agree:

IMO spraying it with 'rattle cans' will only make it worse, leave it as is. Just be honest with what's wrong with it, they might think you're trying to cover something up.

Isn't it that old bodywork V mechanical debate? Some people would rather buy a decent looking 5 as they can do the engine work because the bodywork side of things is more hassle and £££

thanks for the advise guys

I've never to be honest looked at it in that direction before ,

My initial angle was more . Id rather purchase a car that didn't have primerd parts

But after reading your view you have a stronger point that as you rightly stated if you 'spray over' will only hide the problem :coffee:

I have knowledge around the scene But as they say I am still learning the ropes! :agree:
