Aii, XH558. Awesome bit of kit
Will it fly again though? As per usual, the operators are on the 'We need £850,000,834,767,348.76 in donations by the end of the month, or she'll never fly again' beg :bored:

Yeah its certainly an impressive bit of kit, especially when you think its from the 50`s / 60`s !
We have a Vulcan bomber based at Southend Airport, pretty sure it works still. As Bill says rely on donations, volunteers etc to keep it going.
As for the Clio, love the Sparco wheels  Indeed a nice little find Kris :)
Immense. There are a few about that do fast taxis, but this is the only one flying. So cool.

I think the only one that does taxi runs is the one at Southend; XL426.

Would now be the time to admit that I'm a lifetime member of the Bluebell Steam Railway, in East Sussex? :ashamed:

The aim of the Vulcan Restoration Trust is to restore their Avro Vulcan bomber - XL426 - back to airworthy readiness, so that this wonderful example of British aviation heritage can take to the skies once again.
The VRT - a registered charity - consists of ordinary men and women who share an extraordinary dream, and who are using their own individual talents and time to make this common dream come true. Their Vulcan, XL426, lives at London Southend Airport, Essex, England, where she arrived in December 1986. She spent a few years slowly rusting away until a group of like minded aviation enthusiasts clubbed together to buy the Vulcan from her previous owner, thus saving her from being turned into a pile of scrap metal.
This group of enthusiasts formed the Vulcan Restoration Trust. Over the past few years the VRT has transformed XL426 from a corroding exhibit to a living, breathing, noisy, high-speed taxiing aircraft, but they still need a great deal of help.

As good as that would be Rickay, it'll NEVER happen :(
Excluding the millions and millions of $$ needed, as well as getting the permit to fly - The main problem is the engines, or lack of. Rolls Royce won't have anything to do with them any more. They won't make any more, won't make any spares, and they won't rebuild any current ones. Every jet engine has a cycle life, where it's only allowed to complete a set number of cycles before an overhaul is needed. XH558 has the last of the usable engines in existence. Four of them are currently fitted, and of the four '0 hour' spares that they had, only 3 are left. They've had one fail already.
Even if XH558 is kept flying, it'll NEVER fly again once the engine's have completed their cycles. It's predicted that that'll be around 2012
It's a bit of a shame really, i was on the bus today and went past the ol Vulcan, seen better days.
A bit like the Concorde, IIRC Branson wanted to bring it back into commission but Air France or someone else won't release the paperwork or have anything to do with it
