My fastest run at pod was on tesco super (with my additive which i allways seem to use  ) :)... but normally i just use shell optimax 98 ron i think???

i read from and old topic on RTOC not to sure about ins and outs ...

please reveal your findings:)

no findings as such, nothing really to find :) you don't need it. the latest leaded fuel had only tiny ammounts of lead in it anyway, much less than was common when your car was made. your valve seats are not so poor that they need lead. they work fine with lead free fuel. there is no other gain to be had from leaded fuel so it is a waste of time and money.

Anyone ever used AVGAS?

Might be worth a try, I can get some if someone wants to try it....

Unless you ramp up the ignition, and/or use it as detonation suppressant for silly boost levels, there's zero gain from running Avgas.

Try the Tesco 99. My car absolutely loves it. Anything 97 and above will do the job nicely.

I put in a gallon of 95 in once in a blue moon, but only when i have half a tank of 99 in already :)

My friend used to use Jet A-1 when he ran out of petrol, his bikes and outboards didn't like it though  His old man used to (might still) supply the aircraft over here with fuel from his tanker, so when he wasn't looking....glug, glug, glug into a 5L fuel can :D

I use tesco 99, seems fine. Anything above 95 ron goes in the van.

The C1J doesn't need leaded fuel, but I tried some a couple of years back and my car ran 17 times better on it than on any unleaded. I tried it again a few months later and again, it was like driving a different car. It idled smoother, started better and pulled cleaner, especially from very low revs. When the engine was cold was when it was most noticeable. Now maybe that's just my shady car :D, but if I was rich i'd slap leaded in all the time. However, i'm not, so i won't

I whole heartedly agree with Mr Bill of the J. Ive used 4 star three times in THC, everytime it's made such a huge difference, idle was just like velvet. But at £1.46 ltr it's not cheap. I went to put some in a couple of weeks ago thou and the garage near me dont sell it anymore, ive got a 45 mile round trip to get some now. So it gets nothing other than shell v-power now.

I set my carb up for 95ron. 18psi good afr's. 190bhp and 179ft/lbs at motorscope. Oh and the engine is now in a 16v clio pulling 14.2 qm's on shady tyres! Its all about the fueling up to a certain point, after that i would have looked at maybe water injection.

I also use 95 Ron Tesco stuff carb fettled and tweeked for 22psi (manifold) with really good afr's and no sign of det.

for day to day running I use shell optimax........

for the trackdays and every 4th tank I use 4 star..........

the old 4 star , not sure if its me but the 9 starts better, runs better and feels smoother.....
but at £1.49 a litre now AND they have said they may be running out by the end of the year......we'll see how long this lasts..

Is that Bayford Thrust 4 star?
The guy at my local stockist said they have run out. He ordered the last 5500 ltrs from Bayford last May apparently. Due to lack of demand they will not be refining anymore in the foreseeable future.
They are however apparently looking at importing around 500,000 gallon of Russian 4 star for sale in the uk, so any future supplies your garage gets may be Ruski fuel- you'll get 1 token for every 10 ltrs purchased, collect 20 tokens for a 1/2 ltr bottle of vodka, 500 tokens gets you an AK47 and for 1000 tokens you can choose from a range of depleated uranium :D

I'm going with shady car :D

there's no scientific reason why it should prefer leaded fuel.

'17 times better' LMFAO!!!:laugh: Was that scientifically calculated or did it just run crap 16 times prior to putting the 4 star in??? LOL!!!!

Your a star Bill :agree:

Rog, it was actually 17.312 times better, but I rounded it down ;)

Scoffski, shady car maybe, but it seems that other's also have the same "shadyism". Science is over-rated anyway :D

Have to agree with the lads. Totally unscientific - the car seemed to be 'happier' on 4star. :crap:
