I wonder if you could fabricate something like the Clio has where you screw it in place when needed?

I have done away with mine, thinking about fitting a towing strap instead, could be quick release for when needed..

I dont Actually think by law you have to have a towing eye , Stand corrected though if I am wrong ,

The reason I say I dont think you do is during my stint as an MOT testers mate , Never once did I ever get told to check to the towing eye , Come to think of it ... Not sure that I even see it on the check list ! ..

i thought people had to have them when going on the track, not sure about the road.. i'd lose mine if i have the bumper painted, when the car was drawn up im sure there wasn't a towing eye on it, nor a number plate etc... thats why so many cars look good smoothed:smokin:

On track the rules suggest you use a Toe eye for the purpose that they will just hook the hook onto what ever body part seems fit ...

I've seen a 197 get dragged by its subframe from a track :sad2:

This infomation comes from my friend who tracks a Hybusa Westfield . . so point the finger of blame at him if hes wrong :wasntme:

Std issue on the 172, the towing eye protrudes quite far out the front as you also use it on the rear where the thread is set a lot further behind inside the rear bumper

Thats pretty much what I have, does the job, looks better than a rusty towing and best of all its lighter, winner all round:)
