downpipe exhaust size

il shall be making and fitting a side exit exhaust to my clio/volvo engine the down pipe that il be modding is off a 200sx and is 3 inch il be fiting it to a normal clio exhasut which is about 2 1/2 inches is this going to make a loss in power as i want to fit my silenced decat and maybe cat for mot time also are there any tips ect i can buy to weld onto the end of the pipe ones ive finished it what do you guys do cheers

might get a slight bottle necking, but im not sure how much it would effect it proformance wise..

Your using a 3inch 200sx downpipe modded to fit onto your 2 1/2" sidey right?

Can't see a problem with that, most people use a 2 1/2" turbo back system, having the first bit in 3" isn't going to hurt perfromance

yeah will be in 3 inch on the down pipe and il put a reducer in before the cat /decat pipe then it will be in 2 1/2 pipe from there

As long as the reducer gives a nice clean flow from 3" to 2 1/2" shouldn't be a problem

yeah its a stepped cone reducer nice and smooth and wont have any steps in it as the 2.5 inch and 3 inch step are next to each other also i may put a flexy joint in too just so theres no pull on the turbo from the exhaust system

Is that a divided flange, seperating the wastegate flow from exhaust gas?

i know it dont look pretty but its all i could come up with
it works tho an saw me to 223 bhp granted it only lasted 3 days but boy it was quick haha


yeah it a divideing flange.

the waste gate was atmospericly vented.

it has been re made now tho due to false afr readings
and that it was so feking loud
