View Full Version : clio c1j and mot issues
ok my friend has a clio with a c1j turbo engine in it.
Its almost ready for mot, but hes wondering where he stands with regards to the turbo engine being sat in it.
The car original was a 1.4 and had a cat.
It will be fine. Emissions are checked on engine age, so anything under 3.5% co is a pass, no cat req.
If its not declared on the logbook they can manually input the info on the system.
I even took my van for test when the logbook was still reg as diesel, raised a few eyebrows for sure & caused a fair headache with the emissions:D
The emisions wil be determined buy the year of the engine. So non cat test. CO 3.5%
this worries me a bit.. as my 205 gti6 (previously the engine had no cat, however now i have the gti6 in it it should technically have a cat however i removed it..
Does this means its likely going to fail on emissions.

Its never been an issue with my vag5, which also has no cat... its not even been mentioned when its been tested:cool:
the mot system is easy to get round :):)
My clio has the c1j engine in it.
Went through an MOT no probs ....well it had a massive oil leak ..they sorted it for me ..i explained it was a pre-cat engine that was in it and they put it through a MOT.
Just be nice to the MOT tester ;)
