New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Just thought I should let you all know I recently recieved my renewal quote through for my Renault 5 GT Turbo... I'm 24 and have 5 years no claims, my car has only basic modifications and recieved the following quote from Hert Insurance:

Hert Insurance: £547 (UNPROTECTED no claims)

I decided to phone about a bit as I'd been with the company for 3 years... Most companies came nowhere near this quote. Then I phoned 'Sky Insurance' brokers on 0870 11 21 759 which the RTOC had recommended under it's contacts list. They where very keen to get my custom and the following price was agreed over the phone with an Insurance company named 'Marker Study'

Sky Insurance (Marker Study): £375 (PROTECTED no claims)

That's a huge saving, so I thought I should let you all know!

One of the things that kept me with Herts Insurance for the past 3 years was the fact they did an 'agreed valuation', Sky Insurance did not offer this but I was told with confidence that the insurer was very good at paying out a respectful amount as it specialised in modified cars.

Hope this helps you :)

I seem to remember Ian S knows the people at SKY insurance or brought this company to our attention a while back, maybe on the old RTOC site. Do we not have any discount?

Respectful to you & respectful to the insurer is completly different... Personally i would have gone to whom ever offer's you agreed value as it will be bloody hard to get anywhere near your value of your car from any insurer... But the choice is down the to you.

Didn't Herts get taken over by Adrian Flux?

Regarding Sky Insurance, back in 2005 Jae Pearse set up the club with a discount..but this was 5 years ago now..

Can you expand on that, I insure the 5 through them (£200 agreed value etc) but can't say I've felt very comfortable with them.

Indeed, they've been back in touch with me to renew this and then have disappeared for a while. I'll do some chasing again

Flux have been known to be very slow when dealing with claims, not always very helpfull and like most insurance compaines will try and wiggle out of paying out a decent amount for you car... even if you have agreed value (read the small print its hardly worth the paper its written on)

From a personnal point of view i hate paying them X amount and seeing them at shows with loads of young girls in bikini's giving out flyers.. A decent insurance company dont need to do that, just think your insurance would cost less if they didnt take them girls to shows.

Just renewed with them, I did plan to at least look around, maybe I should have taken the less easy route.

I insured with Flux, they took a £300 deposit and my details. They needed my proof of no claims bonus so i spoke to the previous insurer and they said they'd fax/send the details to Flux.

Anyway time went by and no documents came through, so i was highly surprised/shocked when i rang Flux to be told i didn't have a policy with them. They cancelled it without me knowing because of a 'technicality!'

They tried to stitch my mate up with the same bu11sh1t but he had a solicitor send them a snotty letter and got his large upfront deposit paid back

I have found Keith michaels and Greenlight to be very competitive in the past

Adrian flux are only brokers, therefore it's a pain if you ever need there help as you get passed from pillar to post trying to speak to the person who actually knows what they are doing.

i try and go straight to the insurance company now, cut out the middle man, even then you can sometimes :brickwall:

Are they fussy about whether the car is modded or not too?

I have a trade policy with Barry Grainger and found them to be excellent, agreed value on each of my cars taking into account mods, i believe the do private policies too so may be worth a try

These guys have just given me a very competitive quote on my fairly heavily modified Clio Trophy beating Greenlight by over £100 and paying like for like on the mods. I realise they are only a broker but does anyone have any experience good or bad with them?
