how long does it normally take from setting up a policy and the policy being activated to be updated on the database?

alot of fun comin ur way. be careful so easy to go from crappy little 68 bhp to 120+ bhp and think you can handle it straight away.

Even if you do it online you will still have to wait for the tax disc to come through to drive it. Mine came through after the certificate. I was a little gutted to say the least

why not get your insurance to either send you a certificate or email you one and print it yourself.

do you have to have your tax disk on display for it to be legal?? or is it ok if its in the post??

Gotta be on display mate, I think it even has to be in the bottom left of the windscreen or you can get done. But that one might be a wives tale.

so it would probably quicker just to wait untill the insurance cert arrives and then go down to the post office and tax it?

or go on tempcover.com get insured for the day print out your certificate then tax it that way i did it when i was waiting for mine :agree:

If you've sorted your cover and are just waiting for the cert to arrive, couldn't you try taxing the car online? Everythings computer linked now isnt it?

I left my car on the road outside my house with no tax disk showing as it was in the post. Big yellow clamp and sticker on the window telling people it was an untaxed car. Rang the police told them it was taxed and they came and removed it. They did didn't even bother checking.
