On my turbo 182 clio I have a map sensor thats from another renault.

I'm trying to find out it's bar rating but am struggling.

The part numbers are

7700106886

16255839

H105867

I've tried googling it but it comes back saying it was used on the F9Q diesel engines and a few low pressure turbo F4R units and I'm not sure if the rating is high enough to run 1.5 bar of boost.

Any help would be much appreciated

Steve

if its the same a the 225's it seems they can run over 22psi.

It's not listed for the 225 meg just the 2.0T laguna, vel satis and espace

I had a look and couldn't find any info either.

If you're handy with a multimeter, determine which of the 3 wires is the signal output from the sensor. (the other 2 will be ground and 5v with ignition on).

With the ignition on but the engine not running (so the sensor is powered) you need to apply some pressure to the sensor. Either mount the sensor in a bit of tube and connect to an airline, or inflate a spare tyre to 15psi and use the hose from an old pump, etc to get 15psi onto the sensor. Measure the voltage out of the sensor at this point. The sensor will be either 2bar or 2.5bar I guess. If it's a lowly 2bar then you would expect to see maximum output at about 15psi of pressure. Max output on a map sensor is usually 4.7v. If the maximum isn't obtained until 21psi of pressure is applied then you have a 2.5bar sensor. You get the idea :)

The other way to guestimate the sensor is just to have the sensor reading atmospheric pressure and measure the volts on it's output. if it's about 2.5v then you have a 2bar sensor. If it's somewhere around 2 - 2.1v then it's more likely you have a 2.5bar sensor.

Good call Chris and something I should of thought of myself

I'll give it a try when I'm in work tomorrow and see what it gives.

This is the actual style of map sensor and every one I can find that looks the same seems to 2 bar
