TBH your best of fidling with your 5 your self useing the info provided on the site via articals, search function.. and questions etc.... then take it to a rolling road for tweeks.

what you after doing ?

JRP - not everyone knows what theyre doing with 5's and perhaps he would like to have a tuner who is well known for his workmanship to work on the car, not being cheeky if u read it that way but not everyone knows their 5's inside and out, some prefer to have the professional touch added to their cars knowing its in safe hands, but yes they are very easy to work on and not a lot can go wrong with them i have to agree!

Gary i recommend P.C.S. over here in fife if you can make the travel, theyve done it for over 13 years with turbocharged renaults, and know theyre stuff when it comes down to it!

give me a pm if you want more details or call mike on 07931402734 tell him Neil with the 9 turbo sent you;)

cheers mate you are right in what you are saying.i have always wanted one of these cars since a was young so i would rather pay someone who knows alot about these cars and tune it the way i would like it.i am only learning so taking small steps lol.i am after 180 to 200bhp max.through time i will be able to do mods myself but in the mean time i would rather pay some one :)cheers for the advice tho guys i will give that place a call tomorrow and see what the can advice me to do.

true cant agree more i learned on ax's and ford cvh turbo's ripping them apart, learning what each piece does and seeing where things go back, make a mistake then learn from it and not do it again..... its the only way how to learn these days.... but some havent got the time, tools or skills to do so hence why tuners are an easy turn for those not in the know how of things.

Gary run a search on pcs first. You might not like what you see about mike Wilson.

What about the place where Mudslinger takes his 5, AVA?

Unless you know someone personally in the club that knows what they're doing then unfortunately (depending how you look at it) you'll have to rely on a specialist, yet again few and far between.... The chap is asking for help, someone will hopefully guide him in the right direction :)

and if you read it correctly its about sending items out, not his workmanship is it?:coffee: if you want proof of his workmanship mate i'll gladly show u my 5 and 9 turbo to show you how good his workmanship is when it comes to these cars, as said not the best for posting items out but work wise, please dont tar someone with the same brush until you see their work in person!

im the one who got told off for mentioning this so im sure you can read that up as well and see that...

AVA - pricey at the best of times, and tbh the last time isaw one of their pipe runs for an FMIC it was pretty shockingly made up! unless theyve changed their ways, dont get that great feedback on the ford sites either these days for their workmanship and prices.

Tbh your probably right , most of the work on my car was done by Colin ,he no longer works at ava ,and Tom who done most of the pipe fabrication has left aswell .
But i wouldnt take my car to anywhere else other than Alan at AVA for rr work /mapping .

ava's your best bet gary ...but they are expensive im told ..and ive no idea if they still deal with carbs ..a lot of places dont now ...reason im finding it hard also ...i recon we should offer fuel money to a member to come up here to sort both of ours out :laugh:

If i was you m8 , and lived close to AVA , its well worth just booking your car for a run up on the rollers and get Alan to check your fueling and boost , im sure its £50-£60 for that , atleast it will give you a starting point on whats needed if anything and Im sure Alan will advise you on its current state , Just tell Alan that Richie sent you , but try to avoid getting work done there as it will cost .

there is also warpspeed down ayrshire way hes a member on here , im sure miller the club pres uses him ,he also owns a 5 and im sure would sort you out aswell

ive seen their work on euan begbies old saph and their quality on internals is second to none mate agreed, however as most garages theyres good and bad storied float about, the bad stories always stick round more than the good ones these days though.

if AVA are too busy mate contact Sitech Racing. i'll vouch for their work theyre fast becoming one of the best tuning houses in scotland for any make and model of car and they know their stuff with ex BTCC and F1 engineers working there.

Alright strangers ;)

Gotta agree with the wise words of the crew above. Get it to AVA for a roller run and general healthcheck. Then have a saturday where some of the boys come around and show you the ropes on the carb etc.

You'll save a fortune and get the knowledge. There is nothing mechanical on these cars thats complicated, and guys like Scoff/Sparkie etc have blazed the way in forming knowledge about what works and what doesn't.

My arse is back in the UK in a fortnight, so I'd be willing to help you out, and I know I'd not be the only one. By the lads and me a beer or something. Job done.
