Bullet cameras..?

im thinking about buying a bullet camera but im not 100% sure what i should be looking for exactly?

i purely want one to record while driving, id want to mount it externally.
do bullet cams come with a built in mic?or separate?
what do they record to? harddrive or..???

im not looking to spend alot of money, just some basic which will do the job ok.

any recommendations?

Hi Raj,

Not to sure on ones that mount externally, as we run them inside our race cars.

Some mates have £100 cameras with built in mics and record to a memory card, but they would pick up all the wind noise mounted outside.

The one I run uses a seperate camera, recording device and mic so could mount outside, but a lot of money.

Why do you want to mount externally? as normal camcorders inside give good results.

i want to mount it external as im not really that keen on incar views thats all.

brilliant bit of kit, seperate mic, can run off 12v car supply, seperate DVR

i am using a go pro hero camera ,designed for action sports etc .
its the size of a match box and got a built in mic .
modified a cheap suction pad for a sat nav to mount the camera
and it seems to work allright .

this is what the sound and pic quality is like .
(around 5min 25 secs you can hear the sound goes a bit funny )
