i know this has been asked millions of times but here goes!!
im going to be doing a re-build soon and my engine is fairly strong so the only thing i may look to upgrade is my turbo!The question is do i just go for a massive one that will b good on the strip (hopefully)but laggy everywhere else or a smaller one that should b good for tracks but may cost me power??
On my other 5 i run a gt tuning stage 7 he5 li turbo which i like!but that engine isnt as tuned as the one im rebuilding so would that b a wize choice?to big/small?not sure if thats a t2 t25 ...
is there any off the shelf turbos to look at or should i b thinking of making one up of bits??
any help much appreciated

if the answer is all, then a t25 is a good allrounder

mostly strip but also afew track days! been looking at either running my gttuning stage 7 thing (not sureif its a t2/t25)and seeing what its like or ktr350 or techincs stage 3.there the only ones i can seem to find , not sure what there like?? if not like try and make one up:eek:

what about these turbos from cr turbos

T25/2 with .47 rear, good for 180bhp, maybe more depending on engine spec £430 (this turbo is closer to the KTR 230 than the 180 as the 180 runs a bored out .35 T2 rear housing http://www.renault5gtturbo.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif) t25 front & core, .47 t2 rear, 55 trim comp wheel
T25 with .49 rear 225 bhp £495 60 trim comp wheel

I think i remember the GT tunings turbo's being T25's, without knowing the spec of it can't be sure only going on what i remember from the caterloge

What you wanting from the car, what spec is the engine its going on?

lightend/balanced crank+flywheel
forged pistons+rods
steel liners
285 cam+high lift springs
played with the head abit
cant remeber what valves!!
maybe looking at efi but want to change the turbo first

cars mainly goin2 be used for strip but would like to do some track days if the turbo i gets not too laggy!!

If your looking at drag then i'd be looking at a bigger turbo, T25/T28 or something along them lines

i like the idea of the ktr350 sort of size but im not really bothered about rollerbearing or not and the price seems nuts!!the CR T28 turbo mentioned seems worth a look??

Yeah something like that aswell mate, i got one of those at the moment on my campus.

Have a word with Adam L mate, i'm sure he can come up with decent spec turbo that will work well for what you want :agree:

Yes a T25 is smaller than a T28, a full T3 will be too laggy but if its a T25/T3 or T25/T28 then that should be ok. It will have a T25 rear wheel and housing (whatever size you go for) and a T3 front wheel and housing (also can varry the size)

Not neccessarily bad to buy off the shelf turbo (although depends where your going:laugh:), but yeah you can change the spec of the turbo to suit your cars engine spec and what you need it to do.

If you have a word with Adam L, he knows a hell of alot more than me and could come up with the best spec turbo for you mate. ;)

im STILL looking at turbos! :eek: was pretty much set on a t28 unit when i started reading up on vnt turbos.:coffee: are these turbos still rated in the the same size as normal turbos??(t25 ..t28)etc.
would there be much point in looking at a vnt for strip use?
would i be better off sticking to a normal turbo due to the carb/fueling?

A t28 is a mix of parts from a t25 and a t3, usally running a .42 cossie front compressor and a t25 .49 turbine housing or a .64 This is where the t38 came from, same thing a mix of t4 and t34. Vnt's are whole diffrent kettle of fish, require a lot of patience to get setup right and the fueling and ignition have to be bang on. Markey mark had a play with these as did James so may be worth asking them about their experiances with them. For the low down on everything turbo related you cannot beat the advice from Adam though give him a bell and he will put you straight.

Adam doesn't log into RTOC anymore really so if you'd like him to spec/quote you for a turbo just call him on the Turbo Developments number :)

i sort of guessed that a vnt would b alot more involved in the setting up, but would the reward be worth the extra cost/time if its just being used for quater mile?
and do you know if the sizeing for a vnt would be the same for example would a vnt t25 be the same size as a non vnt t25?:scratch:
