hi lately i have noticed loads of renault 5 gts full of extras going for around £1000 is this because of the recession or is that what kind of market it is now. i have spent 5000 on my renault 5 and 2500 was on body work, what is a mint standard looking renault 5 worth with a nicely modded engine without a dumpvalve, i know i wont get my money back but what are they worth??? im thinking of keeping it a good 5 years untill its a classic at 25 but will they be worth more then or less????

Put it this way a "good" 5 goes from bargin to £2000, a mint car can be had from £1500-3500...
We all know somebody who sold a shed for a lot & those who need the cash very quick and sell a bloody good car for alot less...
When you sell a car its a game of bluff... a buyer can turn up and offer you X amount lower than what u were after... if the buyer has the cash its very hard to say no to...

Trouble is with quite a few of the 5 gt turbo's you see for sale (on ebay for example)it may have a ton of goodies on there but can guarrenty there will be a host of little problems with it too, very common to see adverts with 'good bits' followed by 'bad bits', these are normally the cheaper £1000 cars.
A good clean, well maintained 5 are worth £2000+ in my opinion, there the ones that will be worth more money later on when there older.

no one with any sense would buy a 5 gtt with some of the other newer/better cars out there.. lucky some of us were dropped on our heads:smokin:

I find these cars fall into 5 groups
£400 - £900 usually full of problems not much service
£1000 - £1500 high miles and need some TLC some service
£1750 - £2500 nice clean example needs very little doing good service
£2750 - £3500 low miles low owners full service
£4000 + concourse cars
This is only my opinion going on having owned over 25 of them now.

Hmm, I've had it for 6 years now and still can't see me ever getting rid of it. :) The worse case scenario that will happen is I'll get something else and store the 5.
If you're willing to take your time and replace expensive parts, you can sell, with standard parts, you'll get what you want. I made quite a bit out of the Raider I sold a couple of months back.

my orange one i bought for £2300 back in 2005, i'd hope its worth a bit more now
my raider was the result of a trading up game, didn't put any money into cars since i bought a red 1.0 106 for £150, swapped and sold and bought and sold bargain cars to get the raider

but like most things, you got what you paid for.
its a beautiful car mate.
