hi people on the left hand side of the inlet manifold ( as you stand at the front of the car) there is a pipe that goes to the top of the water pump , firstly is this correct. I have looked at the pics from paul b in the files section. The reason i ask is because i have just dropped a engine in my 5 as there was a problem with the bottom end, so its now time for pipe work. I have come to this pipe and there is a bolt in the manifold where the said pipe should go.

confused please help...
thanx

The hose you're talking about does go from manifold to waterpump, but not to the top of the waterpump... that one goes to the bottom of the degassing pot.

was there not a nice picture of the hoses and where they all went in here just a minute a go :( I was going to pinch that and put it in the files section, looked handy :)

I noticed that the hose from top of waterpump to bottom of degassing pot is missing in the picture... bugger... ;)

yes they can. i done it the other week to stop a leak, and clear that area up a bit.
i just have from the water pump to carb, then carb back to the system, i was going to take the carb out of it too but i've read up a bit and it needs the coolant to stop carb freeze in the cold (england).
