Feels like my r5 has been off the road forever but it was only this year when it started knocking after the oil pressure guage was up and down so im pretty sure the bottom ends went.Going to get all fresh bits like oil pump, water pump, shells, pistons etc.Im also gonna put a few aftermarket bits on like side exit,2.5 downpipe, wideband guage, possibly performance cylinder head with piper cam and different turbo.Going to get the gearbox redone locally for £150 but i wouldnt mind a shorter ratio box(clio 16v) to buy and rebuild if it can put up with a little abuse? Also id like an aftermarket front bumper with the 2 big evo 6style spotlights.Dont worry im not going down the chav route and putting 3 shogun spoilers stacked ontop of eachother. Please pm me if you have any aftermarket grilles for sale i like the rair mk1 gt turbo grille and the twister one.

Can anyone recomend any bits cgb sell or avdise of any bits not go get and alternative places?

I live up in Cumbria and im going to drop CGB an email and head down the m6 once we have sorted a deal out and get sorting the car out with my dad.I know theirs a lot of knowledge on this site and look forward to the replys.

It was 130bhp when it came off the road at 16psi which could be why it broke.lol Im aiming for around 160bhp because the clutch ive already bought(valeo green box) is only capable of this and it sounds like a good figure for reliability etc? I done 10,000 miles since having the car and am aiming for 50k with this fresh rebuilt engine because hopefully in that time il have built another motor up with hopefully around 250bhp.

Ive had problems with my dash lights going out quite often recently and id like aftermarket instuments eventually. Also going to heighten the rear tortion bar back upto standard because its lower than the front which wont help handling even though it does handle very well on the spax suspension which i was suprised about after hearing people slaging them off.Never done a tortion bar before and heard theirs wrong ways to do it but im sure that bit will be straight forward.Theirs a lot of play in the steering aswell so thats another job that needs done.

All ive got so far is a valeo clutch which i thought it needed when it kept snaping cables but got to the bottom of that and also got a rear crankshaft oil seal.Im guessing it will cost around £900 in bits by the time its back on the road.

Can i ask, are you mechanically minded? Can you not meet up with some local members to work on your car instead of CGB?

As far as i am aware he was a breaker/part supplier... never knew he got into the mechanical side of things but even so members on her can do the work, show you how to do it etc..

I never said CGB are doing the work i said i was buying the parts off them.My dad is very mechanically minded so he will be doing most of the work and i will be helping and doing the bits i can.

Theirs not many members up here apart from davesbs who is very helpfull with parts and bodywork.Im sure this forum will be a great help once ive got the bits and get started :) as it has been in the past

Excellent where is be baised? Il prob go CGB anyways for a look about because im sure their will also be plenty bits i need but il also contact phase i 16 v turbo think he has gave me good advice in the past.

Has anybody got a list of all the parts including make of part and prices that you would need for a full fresh rebuild? Would be usefull for the forum. If not il make sure i post one up when i do mine and it can maybe be made sticky for people to use as a reference.

Are the cgb performance heads any good? they seem good value.Anywhere else do them? My mam(yes mother! lol) had her escort one done for £800 including kent cam by a cvh specialist but that was maybe a bit steep.Whos the 5 cylinder head guru? Are they very lumpy with the fast road piper cam? Sorry i should use search but just through id bring it up incase someone has discovered somewhere new.
