has anyone stripped an axle down from a 5gtt before?

what i'd like to know, is the stub axle mounted on, or through the rear swing arm bit, what i'm getting at is can it be shimmed for some dirty rear camber?

yeah most definately form over function :D

i know on models with rear drums the stub axle bolts on, but wasn't sure if it was the same on the rear disc models, eg. gt turbo

as far as I can remember stub axels are mounted on the swing arm with 4 torx bolts mate.

I may stand corrected though as it's been sometime....

if thats the case you can fabricate or get fabricated some wedge shaped spacers to give you the camber you neeed/like.

Stub axles are bolted to the rear beam much like the drum brake axle.

I've seen someone on the french owners club add some rear camber to the rear beam with the aid of an acetylene torch, a JCB and a long length of scaffold pole...

i was going to space the bottom out with a could of mm of washer just for some badass rear camber, but i need to find some nice wheels first

sure it's bolted ? I thought the stub was pressed into the trailing arm.

..same with drums, only the back-plate is bolted, the stub axle is pressed.

Scoff's right and my memory is poor....

21 turbos have bolt on rear stub axles maybe thats what I'm getting mixed up with.

Anyway heres the JCB method...

Just had a look at the foreign 5 with rear camber, i don't think it suits the 5 at all

i just visualised the raider on some small wide rims with stretched tyres with a bit of rear camber to help tuck them under :D i agree the one in the french forum looks poop as its on skinny steels

doesn't look like its worth the hassle though. shame because clio mk2 rear beams have bolt on stubs which makes it easy to change the angle of the dangle

As said, id just press the beam... done many times in the old porsche 968 cup challenge days..

Without having some beams (or photos) I was thinking, would it be possible to convert the GTT swing arm to accept the Mk2 Clio type bolt on axle?
