Since i was off this week & it was my birthday, was pretty bored as everybody seemed to be at work so started a little project, just as a little throw together idea at first but soon developed into something i wanted to get right and use frequently.
I have a Logitech G25, which ive had for a while now and as my computer desk has a curved edge its never mounted properly to the desk, nor has the position been comfortable for the gearstick etc to mount on. I decided to make a 'racing cockpit' for the hell of it.
After pondering over a few different design ideas one afternoon last week i went down to B&Q and purchased materials.. Came to £24 something in the end and i've still some scrap bits left over. Chosen to use some thick wood so its pretty solid and wont move anywhere even when being heavy handed ^_^
Isnt quite finished yet, i've a monitor shelf to sit just behind the steering wheel which i'll mount my old 20" LCD monitor on.. my other computer monitor will remain on my other desk, fortuantley i have a prety beefy graphics card so i can run two at the same time without worry to save the hassle of moving stuff about in my room.
Anyway, i'll let the pictures do the talking.

6 speed 'H-Shifter' which also converts into a sequential shifter too.. pretty cool & fun to use.

More to come.. I'll probably use this as a project base.. i'll make another one maybe next year using a real dashboard & center console & gear stick.
There are some proper 'SIM' H-Shifter mechanism's readily available to purcahse that are far more sturdy and use a metal 'gate' too, with far stiffer springs inside so feels much better rather than a small plastic shifter. But hey its a cheap little project to have some fun on over the winter period..
Just thought i'd share it with you guys.
I'll probably paint it Citroen works rally colours or something for the crack lol. =D>
