ok so my clio currently has no front brake calipers. what calipers can I get to fit? Ie do i have to stay woth mk1 clio ones? or doe i have to buy the sics then see what fits im all confuzzled.

just get some refurb calipers from local motor factors unless you want to go hi-spec etc.

When you say go hi-spec can i just get like willaims ones? or ones off a 1.8?

coz mine is oe a 1.4.

hope that makes sense.

not sure if clio williams/valver calipers will fit,someone else will have to help there because i just dont know!!,i would guess the hub/mountings would be the same?

Standard ones will fine. Or you could find a 16v version which will have the larger discs, would have thought you would just need the caliper extensions and calipers from the car and should fit fine. Just check you dont need bigger wheels first though.

That's what i'd do, fit the 16V 259mm setup direct from a Renault 19 16V or Clio 16V. Rob the calipers and carriers off the Valvers then fit new discs and pads.

what size are the willy wheels?

if i go for willy calipers then i will get those wheels.

I'd imagine the 2l Williams also uses the 259mm brake setup

Thanks mate. So if ive got this right i can buy 16v calipers then new discs and pads for the 16v and it will all bolt on to the hub of a 1.4 clio?

Its best picking up the full set up as you would have the carriers as well which the calipers wouldn't come with, find somebody breaking the car and nick the set off them for a small price.

Could i do this with 5 gt turbo calipers?

Ive got access to a wealth of renault 5 gt turbo parts

Don't see why not, i imagine the Clio 1.4 uses a solid 238mm disc. Remove disc, fit 238mm vented disc and fit the GTT caliper carrier and caliper
