Was driving to work this morning, stoped at lights, pulled away and it started juddering and cut out, it was at normal running temp and had good oil pressure. After trying to turn it over i realised i couldnt hear the fuel pump working. Got towed to work and as i went over the speed bump the pump kicked in and she fired up. It did it again on the way home. Is there any common faults with these, anything i should look for?

Or is the fuel pump on the way out and time for replacement?

thanks

by pass the relay and then if no joy .

get a direct live feed from the ingnition and see if that rectifys the prob.

a mate got two new pumps and then found it was down to dodgy wires ;)

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

fuel pumps do go wrong but its usually the fuel pump relay.
to do a simple test to see if its the relay stand out side the car turn ur ignition on and if you dont hear the pump will be the relay.
its a big black 1 under the fuse box held in by a tiny star screw.
may be worth jacking the 5 up to make sure you dont have a loose wire under neath :)

Bridge the relay (red and white wires iirc) and see if it does it. Just remember to disconnect it once you've killed the engine.
