I want to take the number plate off the renault 5 I have to put it on the clio, I have been looking into it and have been told that both vehicles have to be taxed and mot`d for the transfer to happen?!

If so its not a problem on the 5 but the clio is only mot`d as I have not registered the engine as yet and have no insured it to be able to tax it as its sat in the garage since the mot!!

Any information would be handy:)

rich , your right you need to have tax on both and there is a £80 or thereabouts fee to do so if i remember correctly , i dont think the other vehicle needs to be insured but it may , just ring them and check , its pretty easy andd straight forward though.

Sounds about right mate. We had a customer @ nocturnal who brought to us an old Mk1 R5 for some work to get it through an MOT so that he could transfer the number plate onto his own car.

i don't think it will, it costs about £80 to transfer it or put it on retension, then when you're ready you can put it on the clio and it won't cost you any extra, as long as you do it within a year
