Does acid dipping the c1j block cause any parts to damage ? Not sure about core plugs etc on these engines ??? Do you have to replace any bits if acid dipping ?

Thanks

have a look at my tufftride rebuild (http://www.rtoc.org/boards/album.php?albumid=25)
basically had my block, bearing caps, cam followers, cam, pushrods, cam pulley, crank pulley all tufftrided. the block cam up super clean and also came out black. i did however have to replace the core plugs as the process dissolved them away!
no probs.

Bit of a hijack here lads (sorry)

You know if you acid dip a block and basicalyy refurbish and build an engine out of new parts. Would that be the same as a factory built engine. I mean is it as good? if that makes sense.

Lets say that person is very good. Would that engine be of the same reliability and performance?

with the quality of metal nowdays probably not, chocolate pistons an all...:D

No. I've done three and they were all fine. The latest is sitting in my current car. :agree:

thanks guys :)

I reckon if you tip about a litre of phase one vodka over the block that should clean it up a treat:laugh:

On a serious note who are you going to get to do it? When you have had it done and if the price is not silly could you let me know?

I've had one dipped and cleaned for £50ish.

There are chemicals you could use to do it yourself but I didn't fancy it so I just coughed up the dollar :p

The price I paid was £50 on all three occassions. If you're anywhere near Berkshire then Classic & Modern Engine Services are the people I used, (01344) 455583. :)
