First post!

Hi everyone, Julian here from near Oxford. I've presently got a Clio Trophy and a berlingo van:crap: but used to own a 5GT(x) and i'm hoping at some point soon to become a 5GTT owner so if anyone has a mint one going cheap i'm going to be at the front of the queue:)

Hey Hoolio,

Welcome to RTOC. I'm not too far away from you in Swindon, there are plenty of local members near to you :)

I can but hope. I was offered the 10k one that was on pistonheads recently before he put it up for sale properly but like a buffoon i mishandled it for one reason or another.
There seem to be a fair few for sale around but if i'm honest i'm not totally sure what's good and what's not which is one of the reasons i joined.

£2000 wouldn't get you a 'mint' one.. It may get you a half decent one, but not 'mint'. Think more £3000-3500 for mint condition.

How do.....

Trophy is a cracking car....so well done for that......

5GTX was a real goer too but you'll love a 5GTT......wait till you feel the boost...LOL..

Yeah i was thinking along those prices, i don't mind a little work i just don't want one that's going to give me too many nasty rust coloured surprises.

I disagree, 3k - 3.5k will get you a lot better than mint..... It will get you Phatty!!

Rob- i have spotted that but it's almost a completed project and i think i'd like to put something into it.
Paul- Yep the Trophy is a lot of fun and have upgraded(like almost everyone) a few bits to make it more so. Getting rid of the 5 was a huge mistake that i still regret thus looking for a GTT:)

It depends what you call mint. To me, Mint is perfect. Like, no rust, good interior, strong engine, no niggly bits etc. I have sold / seen cars sold that are not what I would call 'mint' for 2k or above

^^^^^clearly not:)

Anyway finally got the 5 trailored home last friday, absolutely gorgeous, white, totally standard and mint.
Pics will have to follow as it's been tucked away in the garage since then because of the rubbish weather, really having to bite my knuckles as i can't wait to get out for a drive.

Do you not recognise the number plate? It's a pretty well known car that's been in the club for a fair few years, and it looks like it's got another owner ;)

:) considering what some not very good ones go for i think i paid a reasonable price for what is, an almost immaculate example. It had been the plan to buy a goodish one and then try to get it close to some of those i've seen on here (i'm totally in awe of what some of you guys have done to wrecks) but being pretty inexperienced i think i will have my hands full just keeping this one up to it's present standard.
Yes she will be a bit of a garage queen but i also think it's criminal not to drive these cars so expect to see me at some point.
As soon as the weather allows i'll get some get some more pics and post them on a none public part of the forum and i'll try to squeeze some more gen from you guys about her.
At the moment feeling pretty happy with myself.
