As far as i understand they are pretty bullet proof engines, lots of potential and relatively cheap to mod! I really want to do a 1.7T conversion my self soon!

unless going for more why do you need to fit a bigger engine? 200bhp from the c1j can be done?

There is only a handful of cars if that which are running 200bhp at the wheels on this club.

Reason for going for more is better fuel consumption. better power delivery, plus its a lot more effecient engine which isn't going to be stressed as much.

raj
11-12-2009, 13:34
talking about fuel consumption, mine sucks ass:disagree: although mines an auto i can only get around 55miles per £10fuel.:crap:

also question, are these engines fitted with a recirc dumpvalve as std.? im sure i can see something that resembles one coming off the pipe thats fitted to the compressor housing. if that is one,can i replace it with an aftermaket dumpvalve? i just fancy being abit gay at the moment:cooter:

The quarter mile leaderboard suggests more though. Look at how many people are running 110mph traps, that indicates a good 230hp at the fly and your not going to be loosing more than 30hp through the drivetrain.

Plus adding more weight your going to need more power.

Even more reliable engine and it isn't pushed so hard as a C1J to get 200bhp.

Im on my 4th box so far but its not as bad as it sounds lol

1st box was in the car wen i brought it and it kept poppin out of 2nd so put in another 2nd hand box when changing the clutch

2nd 1 went cos i ripped the rear engine mount in half wen launchin and after changing the mount found id lost 3 out the 5 gears

3rd went at pod, alot of runs 2 days in a row with 9 inch wide slicks and a welded diff was just 2 much for the car and i ripped the bolts out the flywheel which shattered the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, huge hole in the gearbox, jumped the cambelt a tooth and bent all 16 valves and damaged the cams lol, so an expensive outin but got a not bad time on the strip so dats wat matters hey lol

4th box gone in and no probs so far

Rob@Backyardracing
11-12-2009, 23:42
I wouldnt run a welding dif on a strip IMO....:) fully open difs are capable for good 60fts with proper drag tyres... unless your on road tyres and badly unbalanced in weight...

Also samcos etc they will be listed for the volvo car?

Chris Hebden

Volvo 480 Kenobi. You might struggle getting off the shelf samcos to fit the clio depending on rad used and positioning.

Was there ever any articles done on this 1.7 turbo conversion, it's an interesting option to the C1J. I'm sure there were factory boundries in place that could be tampered with/over rode? to extract more boost/power
