View Full Version : octane boosters on a n/a car
Anyone ever used them or are they a waste of money?
Got a free rolling road day on sat and just wondered if they made a difference or just knackered up the car?

If your talking about your vtr, I wouldn't bother. Also tried super unleaded and to no benefit, they just like 95 ron.
Cheers Andy! just what i wanted to hear!
Will redex effect performance tbh i was planning on doing it earlier but not had time.

I quite like that redex injector cleaner. I would always put it in a full tank of petrol before I went on a long journey.I got an extra 2mpg out on a trip when I tried it with and without, but I'd take that with a pinch of salt as subconciously I might of been easier on the gas, you just don't know! :D
unless you engine is smart enough to alter it's paramaters to suit the fuel then it'll make no difference at all, with some fuels it might even make less power. you need either more timing, compression or boost to make use of extra octane. clever engine management with knock control will experiment with timing to get the best from it's fuel, I suspect your VTR will not :D
haha cheers scoff! i thought after i posted that the timing would have to be advanced.
Doh!
Ar well its a free day and just a play with the car, cheers for the response!
Sure miss my 5 :(
:wasntme: Everyone says that once they sell up:( Thats why I would rather keep hold of mine even if it doesn't get used much;)
I think its having soooo much free time on my hands!
I want a C1J in my garage to rebuild.
Cant find any on fleabay cheap enough though.
You can rebuild mine.
You supply the parts and labour and I will supply the engine:p
Seriously, if you keep an eye out Im sure something will come up;)
