did anyone have extra difficulties fitting inner poly bushes on to the arb ?
i have a renault 9 arb here which is supposed to be 23mm in diameter
hence i bought some 23mm poly bushes from a renault 19 16v/clio williams .

however i am having real big problems fitting the inner bushes , i have
just measured the arb (using digital caliper tool )where the inner bushes go
and it measures about 24mm  and thats bare metal ,so paint thickness is
not an issue either .

any ideas/input appreciated :agree:

Absolutely plaster the bushes and antiroll bar in as much grease as possible, place a bar against one side of the bush, take a hammer and bat it into position smearing both sides with grease as it moves along :)

i wondered what that sachet of grease was for lol :)
seriously though , does the grease actually help the bush get a little more
flexible ??

The black clip type thing i found i had to change as it had become out of shape.

Not alot from renault for the 5, id assume it would be the same for the 9.

is the depth of the bush the same? compare it to the old one, and make allowence for 20 years squishing :)

they are either the wrong type of bushe , that was the problem i had , so i ordered the ones from flo flex , or the bracket is out of shape ,but by the looks of that photo its defo 100% the wrong bushe mate:)

you need the next size down

They look right to me, the diameter of the hole looks fine as the bush closes fully. These are always a pig to fit. Boil a kettle full of water then plop your bushes in for a couple of minutes, you'll find they are a lot easier to fit. A big pair of mole grips to clamp them up enough (or a secon person) to get the bolt in goes a long way too. Percivere mate and they will be fine.

hi Evren,

I had the same problem with my 11 and I ended up grinding some meat off of the bushes, it worked a treat :agree:

Same here, has anyone actually got the phase 2 bushes on their phase 2?

i have just checked flo-flex and super-flex websites , they dont seem to
have bushes listed for a RENAULT 9 1.7 GTX
did renault 5 gtt ever come with 24mm ARB ?

I also have a later type subframe here out of a megane (1997)
the bushes fit perfectly fine on that using the megane clamps .
subframe is similar to the renault 9 apart from 1 major difference .

the mounting point at the o/s rear on meggy subframe has got a rubber bush
built in it where as renault 9 subframe is solid at all 4 mountings .
i can fix this with some chopping and welding i guess .

does anyone know why they used a bushed mounting on later subframes ??
i have seen this on 19s and clios as well

hi mate , what did you grind them down with ?
i heard from superflex guy that polyurethane melts when exposed to
heat etc

I used a bench grinder thingy that's got a sandpaper on it

this:

if you take your time and don't grind it down in 2 seconds it won't melt.

Cgb sent me the ph1 when I needed the bigger phase 2. Just gave away 2 sets of phase 1 inner as I had no use for them and now have the fatter phase 2 ones to fit.

i will give them a call to confirm dimensions etc actually .
it would be shame to use a different subframe as i allready welded
mine up for strength etc .
