play in front struts

noticed a small amount of play in both side front struts, there all still attached to car etc and thge play is in towards engine and out towards wing rather than back and forward, what would be causing this?

Sounds like the top mount bearing or the suspension top hat has broken, common fault on the suspension.

these readily available anywhere?? got the fuel pump sorted anyway well it seems to of fixed itself, unplugged the loom in the drivers side footwell and tried messing around with wires etc and nothing at all, put it all back together and it fired up and seems fine.........until next time

Yeah the bearings are avaliable from your local motor factors, there about £5 last time i got them. Top hats are alittle harder but sometimes come up on ebay or in the frosale section.

Try Mike (Phase 1 16v turbo), he may have some about.

you can get new/recon top hats,local motorfactors/cgb...

or check the ones you have for wear,hole may be ok an not ovalised,if its just cracked get it welded around the top,thats all they do with the recon ones.
