You won't get an opinion on which one is best .Either ,neither or none .....DVs are gay ...that'll be the extent of the advice offered .
Just fit it and see if you think it is better :agree:

Asking which one sounds better is like asking if strawberry tastes better than raspberry. Everyone's has their own opinion.

get a hks ssqv.... it doesn't sound like a normal dump valve

forge group a is the loudest

bailey piston ones make a feeble tish

i just use the hks one or none depending on my mood

BluntyR5GTT
25-11-2009, 18:37
see it has a forge one on now but am not sure what kind, i asked the previous owner but he said it was already on when he bought it

If its got holes all way round the bottom half of the dump valve it'll be a diaphram type dump valve

the bailey has a nice airy sound and you can control it for a long dump at light throttle, you dont get the light throttle dump with the forge but at high boost has a nice high pitched sort of lazer dump, ha,
i have to admit i did prefer the bailey sound at first but now ive changed my mind

oh yeah both of them are piston type....

you got to excuse the people on here :sad2: you need to run without a dumpvalve on here to hang with the big boys in the playground

ive run a bailey dv24 years ago but the forge group "a" is the nicest one ive used and lives on my car

I have 2 dump valves from K-tec racing and I think that the answer that you are looking for is yeah they do sound nice.

I'm just curious as to why you want one that sounds the best??? Would you not want one that did its design job the best?? Whether it be a dump valve, no dump valve or a recirc.... This to me would make sense and that to me would get better answers and opinions.

Wanting one that sounds the best and loudest to me is wanting to be a chav and showing off to your mates.

"Lizen bruv, its gt a phat noize innit"

"Yh blud, you is me hero"

I think this is why you are getting a bit of stick maybe. Just my opinion though so I may be wrong.

I honestly believe having a dumpvalve (that failed) was the main cause of my engine blowing up. It was only a case of the reference pipe falling away slightly........ I dont have one now and MUCH prefer it?!

ive run all kinds of dumpvalves over the years since ownership in 2003, never had a problem with anyone of the ones ive used, no engine blow ups and no turbo failure

cars dont come from the factory with bailey dumpvalves etc so it must be tried and tested by now....

90% of turbo cars DO come with dump valves of the recirculating type these days because they do have a positive effect, and the reason most are recirculating is because most of them have air flow meters so you need to return the air thats already been measured

JRP
26-11-2009, 18:05
How many times has this been discussed? just out of interest? anybody know...

My old Impreza WRX came with a factory recirculating dv, I swapped it for a vent to atmosphere dv and it ran like a bag of nails, I put the standard one straight back on,

Cars with air flow meters must use a recirc dv or risk running very lean

Or could it be the fact that manufactors don't want there cars producing the 'chatter' nosie so run a re-circ one to loose the noise.
