I have been offered some avo coilvers and just wondered how much it is roughly to get them refurbed if needed as they are not off the car yet so can`t see if they are leaking or not

It was a long while back, but Avo's wanted ~£60 to refurbish a rear shock, and getting on for double that for a front coilover.

Quite a fair bit of outlay to have all 4 shocks overhauled, especially when you can pick up a new set of Gaz (for example) coilovers & rears for not much more.

Speak to BG, I think that's there name, they are located around the Silverstone area. They are meant to be pretty reasonable :)

I'll try and fish out a phone number Rich.

hi i have just re furbed my set the bits are cheap from avo but delivery is a tenna on everything even if youn order something for 2 pound. just make sure on the front legs the top nut hasnt snapped off as this sets the stiffness of the shock. the top nut is about 8mm looks like its part of the top bar but its seperate and if wound to much if seized snap off. the rubber dust protectors are £5 each plus delivery , there easy to rebuild

the coilovers all round are 100 quid but if a refurb on top it might just be easier to buy some new gaz coilovers for the 300 mark that I have seen as I have heard that the avos can rust quite quickly

I paid £50 per shock to have them re-furbed, which I thought was **** as they were not even a year old and they started leaking:crap: one of the shocks had mole grip marks at the top when i bought them bran new from avo.

In hindsight I should have sent them back straight away but I thought with the mole grip marks being so far near the top that it wouldn't matter and I was desperate to get my motor back on the road. still don't know why the other one started leaking:confused: but they would n't do either on warranty and to be fair there customer service was horrable too!

the shocks arn't even that good quality anyway the gaz ones I have seen are much much better.

As for the ride they are decent shocks the car handles very well once they are set up. :agree:

:edit: I have to take mine off every few months and clean and grease them other wise they would have corroded very badly.

Yea, for the money, Id buy new. You'll have the benefit of a guarantee/warantee etc

I've had my Avos for around 5yrs, no rust issues lol

I think my rears needs a rebuild tho :crap:
