Measuring bolts

Ok guys, I want to change alot of my bolts. How do I measure them up so I buy the correct sizes. Don't understand all this m8 stuff. :scratch:

You using the car every day??

If not i would recommend you remove all the bolts you want to "replace" and take them to a Local Platers & ask them to Zinc & Colour Passivate them & then they'll come back all nice & shiny as they came from Renault & you haven't got any worries about getting the wrond thread or length etc???

easy stuff,say you got a m6x30.....m6 is the thread width and 30 is the thread length,i have replaced so many bolts to stainless an there mega cheap to!!!

Thread pitch is also required for metric threads .....Std and fine :)

Feck in ell clee, j was showing me the way then you have to ruin it. :laugh:
what tool do I need to work out the thread guys? ...and the thread pitch? :(

you can get thread pitch gauges but if i was you i would take some bolts to local fasteners an there sort it for you,depends mine is ony 8 miles away,or suss up what you need an go the web route...

last couple of questions, what metals should I keep away from when buying bolts, most of the bolts will be situated in the engine bay. And can anyone recomend a place on the net that does decent bolts cheapy cheap?

stainless are the kiddies....or go super flash an ti bolt the carb..
